My little tree

I got the little tree planted in a pot and have brought him in to decorate. I just finished that and he is quite pretty, if quite small! But he will grow. I used many of my old ornaments. But many I couldn’t yet since he is small. Here are some pictures.

It is pouring rain today. Horrible weather. A proper day to get a colonoscopy. I don’t want to over-share but I kind of think it is interesting to know. Luther had this procedure scheduled for today. It was necessary to get it fast so we opted to pay private which is always an option here. The medicine that we must all take before this procedure was different this time. Less liquid needed to be imbibed. Luther told me this medicine would cost $200 in the U.S. and here it cost €20.

After the procedure, all was OK. It is always a relief. It cost us €450.00 in total. Not bad at all if only needed every 3-5 years. But to be clear, this would be free on the national health system, if you’re willing to wait. I imagine a colonoscopy in the U.S. is more expensive that this. You can let me know!

Excellent Margaret! Seems others with insurance don’t have as good coverage as you do.

Hi Nancy, Medicare covers the cost of colonoscopies, every two years if you are at risk or every 10 if you are not.

Thank you for the information and sharing your cute little tree. Your blogs are always so interesting and I have learned a lot. But to answer your question about the coloscopy…..my husband and I get them for free with our insurance. We never pay more than $10 for any procedure and some are free.

Hi Elizabeth, it does seem to be a constant fight there. Hence this weird Robin Hood thing with the killer of the UnitedHealthCare CEO. People are angry and I don’t blame them.

Thanks Cynthia! I’m glad all is ok too! We were a bit anxious which why we went private.

I’m pretty sure a colonoscopy would be more than $450 in the US *with* insurance. The last one I had, the day before I got a call saying my insurance approved the procedure but not the anesthesia/sedation. We argued with the insurance company and ultimately it was approved … but it’s just this constant hassle whenever dealing with anything healthcare related here.

What a sweet tree with such pretty ornaments!

I had meant to get a colonoscopy this year since I hit my deductible but other things intervened. I have to check to see if it’s covered. Your price seems quite reasonable. Glad to read that all’s well with Luther.

Hi Tom, yup, I figured it would be something like that. That really is quite a hit. Not just anyone could afford that and at lease you have some coverage! What if you had none?!
Thanks, I think my little tree is cute too! 🙂🎄

    The tree looks really cute!

I had a colonoscopy last year, and it was “covered” by my insurance. When I checked in, I was told I had to pay the deductible before the procedure. When I asked how much, I was told $1,500+ (I can’t remember the exact figure). A month or two after the procedure, we received another bill from the colonoscopy to pay the anastesiologist. I think on total with our insurance, it cost about $3,000. UGH!!
